I don't mind eating them..I just mind killing them..and the idea of ripping the feathers out! Oh its awful. I hadn't seen the roo since he crowed this morning and boy...between yesterday and today I swear he's a completely different bird. Its like he hit puberty overnight. He is suddenly strutting and super alert. Before he was the most scared and he is still skittish but now he is trying to herd the other two when my dog comes near. The funny thing is my lead hen is the one that takes on the dog and attacks my dog daily. And she could care less if the dog comes near but the roo suddenly wants them to leave and follow him but she doesn't seem to like that very much. The other hen will follow him though. Its sooo weird...kinda like he found his voice so now he feels manly. Is this normal? And he's never been aggressive ever except the other night when I was going to move them into their coop and he bit me. I hope he never attacks DD or DS...because they love the chickens. its a wonder they aren't obese because my daughter tries to feed them anythnig and everything she can.
I'm going to call around to butchers to see if they'll process him. I'm not sure how I'll feel about eating one of my own...but if I want to be farmer I need to man up...and get it done by someone else!
He'll probably end up in the freezer for 6 mo. too!
I forgot who posted about wanting to eat the kitties but that was downright hilarious!
