Okay, I'll admit it, I'm really just an attention..............ummmmmm....................I don't think the filter will let me post that word........................how about lady of the evening?

Deb

LOL!!! I'm used to the phrase "attention hog". I couldn't figure out why you were worried about finishing that sentence until I scrolled down. Literally laughed out loud. hahaha

Me too! It's getting harder though. They would make awesome ornaments! I wonder if there is such a thing as a banty emu? I can just picture a bunch of these eggs laquered and hung on the tree.

LOL! Yea, I've got tomatoes, leeks and a bunch of other things sprouting but they will get moved to bigger pots and left under grow lights for awhile before I consider moving them outside. Well I may try a few of my tomatoes and egg plants in the hay bale cold frame DH just built for me as soon as they are tall enough but I will add some heat sinks first! Last year we got a hard freeze up here on June 26th.

I'm going to bring my incubator home from the preschool today, which means I'll get a chance to candle my eggs. Woot!

Oh good!

So has anyone heard from Grumpypantsmomma? I sure hope she and the kids are ok!

Argh! I am out. My incubator came unplugged during the night. Eggs ice cold this morning. My dogs bed is near the area, I think maybe he knocked the plug out. Sadness!!

Plug it back in and walk away!! I know I told the story of my broody who sat on the wrong nest in an 18* October fluke, right?? Well, I had seen her off of the nest mid-morning, and when I went to lock them up around 7, she was on the wrong nest (full of golf balls). I flipped! I put her back on and searched and everyone said put her back and hope for the best. I got chicks! It's amazing how resilient mother nature has designed this system. Have faith.

You know it is not going to be a really good hatch when the boxes come in looking like this

Last summer was brutally dry and hot with 110 for days so this spring is moist and wet and I hope the summer stays below the tripple digits

THAT is why I double-box and ship in major foam. Holy moly.

I'm alive!! I think. Had a problem with the bator being unplugged again, so this time I just switched the plugs out. I'm still tired and I've been awake for a while now. All this talk of coffee makes me want to make a pot. Unfortunately we only have mom's gross non-dairy creamer.

A great save when all the real milk and half-and-half are gone is to keep a few cans of evaporated milk around- not sweetened condensed, evaporated. It actually is VERY good.

ME ME ME!!! I will take them....how do I get there? LOL bet its huge road trip...silchins sound awesome and I love love love my broodys.!

If you can pay the shipping and for a box, they are totally yours. Super-sweet, but I'm out of room and I don't want him breeding in my separated flocks. I don't want him eaten, of course, though she can go in wherever. I'm happy to send them as a pair. She's just decided to sit again, but I can pull her off. She'll do it again within weeks of arriving, I'm sure!!

PM me your zip for an estimate if you're serious!!

Question about injured roo. I have a Blue French Marans young roo about three months old. He is really pretty and I was going to keep him for breeding. I have a gentleman that comes over to get extra roos for his family when I have them and he was over about a week ago. He steped on the little roos leg and hurt it pretty bad. I don't think it is actually broke but it could be. It has been a week now and he still has trouble putting his weight on it fully and loses his balance when he does. Should I reconsider keeping him for breeding? Has anyone had a chicken injured like this that fully recovered? Sorry if it is the wrong thread to ask on but with soooo many wonderful chicklet caretakers here I thought it would be a good place
