(Military camo eggs in honor of kvmommys DH returning home from his service and to all others out there who are serving or have served, here or abroad, active or veteran, including their families who also serve by their sacrifice of being without their loved ones)

I love this! And thank you. I'm going to show this DH when he gets home. So he knows why I love this community so much!

so, DS woke up with I guess Night Terrors last night. Over 45 minutes of the scariest time of my life. He screamed and thrashed and slammed his head into the floor and objects over and over again. If I tried to hold or restrain him he'd hit and kick me and thrash worse. I finally got scared after he slammed his face so hard he bloodied his nose and the slammed into a tissue box and cut his face. I decided to take him to the ER. Then my friend was on her to stay with DD while I took him the ER and it stopped. Didn't wind down..just stopped. Then he went to sleep. His face today looks like he was in a boxing match. But its like nothing happened. and then I went to mcdonalds for a coffee and got rearended in the drive thru. It hit hard enough to snap my head forward and I bit the crap out of my tongue. But DS was fine and my bumpers a little banged up but not as bad as his. He got out of the car and I could tell he was crippled and he was old and just shaking. I thought he was going to have a heart attack. Apparently he has a bad leg and it slipped off the brake. I reassured him we were fine and so was my car. I told him we didn't need to call the cops or insurance or anything and he was so relieved but I could tell he was so shaken up and embarrassed. Poor guy. So...I am home exhausted but can't stop looking at my bators. Can't we just lock down now???? Not that it would speed things up. :(

This is worth the listen. As a youth, I grew up listening to Paul Harvey!

During my college years, I rarely missed his noon broadcast.

He was truly a visionary who could, through the wisdom of the ages, predict the future.

47 years ago today, he predicted our future. SCARY!

Take a careful listen. GOOD DAY!
I used to listen to this guy too..loved listening to him. I think I heard a few things in there that I just heard this past weekend. Had to share on fb.
Now I want to go find more of his shows! Google time. :)

Has anyone done a story for crazypetlady's contest? I haven't seen any. I have one I'm thinking of posting, but for some reason I'm just not liking it.

Go for it Raz! Would love to read it! I haven't seen too many,..I'm thinking two..so we need more.

Hmm, I'm candling one last time tonight and we'll see what happens over the weekend. I'm not even in the mood to set up my brooder to be honest. Will pick up a bag of pet grade chopped straw Thursday as mine has been in the shed over the winter and I don't trust there not to be mouse pee in it by now.

Edited to add:

Does anyone else have a rooster that only crows when the girls start laying? He'll give up again shortly, and he only crows when he's guarding them actually laying. So, from about 10 am to 2 pm I get the odd ooodle-ooooh from him and then silence. He never crows in the winter. Is this at all normal???

Edited again to add:

To all those who wished me good luck in my Uni entrance exams as a mature student: it worked! I scored 133 out of a scaled score of 50 to 150, and came in the 96th percentile!! Wow, where the hell was that when I was sitting my exams at 18?!?

My Oldest DD had night terrors. It is very traumatic to everyone but the child with the Terrors. Yes, it lasts up to an hour and yes it just stops and yes the next day they don't remember it. My DD never hurt herself but could see where it could happen.

Expect repeats of the terrors 2 to 3 times a year for a couple of years.

I had a chick in the bator that was stuck on his back so I opened it to get him out and put him under a light and the smell smacked me in the face. So I have a rotten egg, I also have 2 eggs that pipped. Do I leave it until they hatched or do I look for it now? I know I already opened it but it will take me a bit longer to find a rotten egg out of about 30, then to reach in and grab a chick.

I wish there were a rule book for incubating lol.

Just a quick note to mention my TJ's chicks. I hatched four chicks, for the 2011 NYD Hatch; 3 were pullets and one was a rooster. TJ the cockerel hatched upside down - it was obvious right from the get-go he was a boy. ;)

The 3 Josies are wonderful layers. TJ was gorgeous and and a great gentleman roo but he was a loud crower. I've since given away one of the Josies when someone wanted to start a flock of layers, and TJ himself died through inadvertent accident this past February.

I chose the freshest , most recent carton of eggs from the refrigerated egg case and set the whole dozen. I think four chicks out of those twelve eggs was fairly astonishing. I had also set another dozen of 'em from a different Trader Joe's market, but they were not as fresh and none of that dozen hatched.
