Today has not been a good day. My SIL woke me up at 6:22 this morning to tell me that one of our 15 year old cats had died.

Someone's PET came in my yard and killed one of my cats. When I saw the prints in the driveway my first thought was coyotes, but when I thought about it, it didn't make sense. It was simply a kill. It wasn't for food. We were lucky that her sister was in the house. SSS is now in effect at our house.
Purry didn't go down without a fight. If she had, it just wouldn't have been like her. Here's a pic of her from last year. I'll miss her.

I know how you feel. My 14 yr old cat died right before christmas of old age, very special cat.

There is a final tally. Unfortunately, there were a lot of folks who did NOT report their hatch amount to the spreadsheet by the time specified.

Had everyone reported, there would have been a different result.

We are still trying to work through it all, but eventually the spreadsheet will be shared with everyone.

There will be a Brinsea winner because of "when" they posted...

___________________________________________________________________________

We have 22 entrees for cutest chick pic.

There will be an initial judging and the 22 will be thinned down to somewhere between 8-11.

And then we'll most likely put the "finalists" into a poll.
_____________________________________________________________________________

We will also be figuring out as soon as we can the Best Hatch Rate (for those who sat 24 or more)... the winner will have to produce the pic in the thread where they showed the amount of eggs they sat and then a pic of the chicks they hatched.

Thanks for the update and I must say i do not envy you at all right now. you must be pulling your hair out trying to get it all figured out..... Thank You!!!!

The rules on the Brinsea contest were posted on POST #1

OVER, AND OVER I posted that the number of chicks you had hatched HAD TO BE POSTED BY THE SPECIFIED DATE AND TIME!

We won't count chicks posted after the specified time, NOR will we do a PM frenzy.

Obviously we will NEVER know how many chicks actually hatched, but what we will know is how many were reported by the specified date and time.

That said, we are all going to be up front about everything...

TWO PEOPLE guessed the number of chicks CLOSEST that would be hatched

As in all BYC guess the number contests, or guess the date and time, the person who posted the amount or time FIRST is the winner.

SO, silkie mom, made her guess on 3/17 and leisure made her guess on 3/18.
As Nifty and Brinsea offered the ONE and only incubator, only one prize can be given.

When we inquired if it were possible to get TWO, the response from our head honcho was this,

Quote:Nifty
So, the winner of the incubator is silkie mom.

I have lost my link to the spreadsheet, but I'm certain that SGC or Kathyinmo can find it to post here.

Congrats to silkie mom!

Just a thought about getting help. The Emergency/disease section is great, but many there have posted help for different diseases and my be tired of posting the same thing over and over. Also, you often aren't "known" there. If you don't already belong to a local thread, then join yours. They will get to know you and will be very likely to help.

Of course I would post on the Emergency thread too. You can also search the forums for help. The forum members that hang out on that forum are great. If I post on my local thread Ie: California Northern, those that subscribe to the thread get an email and say: oops, Ron needs some help.

This thread has become like that, but it will wind down soon. Until the next hatch thread starts. Kind of sad

. It's like losing my second job keeping up with all of the posts.

Thanks for the tip! And since SCG is on the Maine thread, I have a pharmacist at the ready!
Thanks SCG for the half-life info. I can wait to get rid of these dreaded mites!

Second place prize:
6+ EE's hatching eggs from Hot2Pot

Both winners guessed 2900, which was 3 over the 2897 reported by the time due. silkymom1986 cast her vote before LeasureChix, so she wins. Folks who reported their numbers after midnight April 11 were not counted because the rules stated that you had to report by April 11 midnight.
