Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

My dad used to say the Montana Department of Transportation was responsible for me, as my parents lived for a time next to the Transportation yard... In December, the highway snow plows warmed up in the yard to head out at 5 A.M. It was too early to get up, and too cold to go back to sleep.

August 30.

I told people that my 2nd daughter was conceived the day after Thanksgiving. Horrible storm and power went off over half of Oakland. My oldest was a sleep and the pool hall had to close.

I turned 60 in January. Yeah, I have some aches and pains, but just ignore them (mind over matter) and once I get going, they go away. It just takes me a little longer to get going. LOL Turning 60 didn't bother me, but my oldest turning 40, WOW, how did that happen??? Of course, my youngest turns 20 this year, so that makes me a lot younger! I feel truly blessed with my life. Several of you have mentioned gymnastics and the toll on your bodies. My two oldest grandchildren are in gymnastics now. If you had it to do over, would you have given up the gymnastics?

Give up gymnastics?! That's crazy talk!! Actually, it was when I was pregnant with my son at 25 that I seem to start losing the flexibility in my back. I never really worked to regain it (I was busy). So, I don't know if that is the reason or if it was just a natural progression. I'll never forget at practice one day, I had my heels in my eye sockets, my coach said "you're going to have a back problems later." I never did until my 40's. So, I would say enjoy the gymnastics and maybe not get pregnant

. Now you all know that my son is the biggest joy in my life, never a day of trouble out of him, so far (he's 21)

I am uploading a video of the emus in the lake. The lake-pond is behind our house, but it belongs to our neighbor (who is the greatest ever!). We walk around it all the time; fish and swim in it, too.

I am August 22, 1953. Wedding anniversary is August 28, 1971. We married right out of high school. 41 years this year. We wanted to get married in June, but Father forbid marriage before I turned 18.

Seeing lots of 44 - I've got till July. I look around and see the kids graduating I wonder how that all happened and I'm not old yet? Body is deteriating a little and energy level isn't as high, but I'm loving life! Who cares if my house isn't as clean, right?

Hahaha!!! Only if you started driving at 14 as well. I think that is why I am such a good driver. I drove for years before I finally went down to get my Driver's license and make it legal. So I always drove the speed limit and behaved myself. Once I got my DL I got a hotrod though. Still didn't get a ticket but I did push it now and then when some young guy wanted to race. IDK what it was! I just couldn't let him think his puny little car was a serious piece of machinery! I guess, even before I went into teaching, that I've always felt the need to instruct others.

I'm only 30. Most days I still mentally feel like I'm 12 and I'm waiting for my mom to come home and ask me why I'm wearing my pajamas at 6 PM and have a boy in the house.

Ha ha! I still feel that way at times. My Dad was over here the other day and as we were out front saying our goodbyes my DH came up behind me and hugged me in a familiar way (nothing horrible just nuzzled my neck) and I got all embarrassed and pushed him away. Jeez I know we are all grownups here and I wouldn't think twice about it in front of friends but it's my Dad!!! I don't wanna see some guy hanging on my daughter like that! lol

I will be 46 this year. I have to say, other than being a teenager, I have enjoyed the age I was at, at the time, every year. I have never wanted to go back to a younger age. So far I haven't wanted to be younger again especialy if it meant that I would loose what I learned getting to that age. I am thankful that other than some back pain every now and again, I haven't had any medical issues so far. My best friend asked me when she was going to turn 40 (I am a few months older than her) if it had bothered me. I said no, why would it?

Turning 30, 40 and 50 never bothered me either. I don't believe in swallowing the media garbage that growing older is a horrible thing. I figure it's just their job cause you can't make a bunch of money on skin care, etc if you tell folks they are fine just as they are. But... folks, you are fine, in fact fantastic, just as you are! I never tell folks I am younger than I am. If I were to lie about my age I would go the other way. Why would I say I'm 10 years younger when I know folks will then be thinking, "What the heck happened to her?"

I would love having my BODY go back to age 20 if I could keep the wisdom I've earned in the past 34 years.

My wife would probably love my body going back to age 20 too!

Probably not unless she could have her 20 year old body back as well. I like my DH's 60 year old body. He's still a hunk to me!
