!! Congratulations on your success!

Very interesting birds Dan! I have always loved bantams, particularly the seabrights. I am uneducated in poultry genetics, but will be learning as I just bought a few Seramas to breed, and now that I know more about what characteristics are needed for show birds will be looking to produce those in my flock.

I'd be VERY interested in getting a fair number of your birds when you decide to sell them. I always like having things that are "different!" And I also love a challenge, which breeding for particular characteristics is.

I will be following this thread and your website for future updates!

Dan,

Has it been difficult to breed them to be homozygous for henny feathering? Is there any way to identify if a hen has this gene, or how many copies she has?

Thank you,

Ryan

I was moving some of my maiden rocks from the pasture to the pen and thought I would get a few pictures. Still a lot of selecting to do with this breed. They are nice birds to watch free ranging on the farm. As you can see from the picture below they lay a nice blue egg.

Dan,

He is stunning. Very distinctive. I really like how his chest is well forward, as well as his tightly held together tail with just a slight arch. I also like the appearance of the thick neck and strong looking head. Another thing I notice is how all his feathers are tight to his body without any "astray" feathers. All of that resting upon strong, thick, long legs. He looks like a very powerful bird as well. And now I just continue to ramble, but I also like how much of his mass is on the front half of the body - and combined with his tight tail, sort of makes him appear like he is a positive, forward thinking bird

but that is just the kind of thoughts I get off the top of my head when I see such a jaw-dropping bird. I hope to see many more like him in the future.
