Mail order chicks question

Ditto. It's way too risky to ship chicks during the winter in most of the United States.
I just called to try to cancel but they have shipped with heat pad in box and they said they are having great success shipping all over right now even to Alaska
With no issues but mine
I will never order this time of year again I feel so guilty
I'm praying this is not a bad experience for these little guys

I called them this morning they said they have lots of orders up here right now and all are good and they are reshipping my order today
I figured they had this stuff all figured out I hope these chicks don't get the same results
They really did talk about how it's the post office fault and didn't even want to consider anything on there end

That is sad!:(
I will get mine at 5:45 am tomorrow and I have a large amount of eggs in the incubator going on day 20! so lets hope and pray that yours and mine are going to be ok!

Hope it works out for you. Usually there is a minimum number of around 25 chicks so they can keep warm enough to survive, I can't believe they took an order of only 6 at this time of year.

Well, it could be mishandling, too. Anything from CO2 poisoning from improperly sorted cargo to being left overnight in an unheated space in freezing weather to rough handling (intentional or otherwise)... There's really no telling.

Don't feel guilty, it's not your fault. If Cackle is being honest and they aren't having any other issues with orders, I bet something happened with the shipping/handling of your babies. I hope your re-shipment is a success, but seriously don't blame yourself. You had the best of intentions and are handling this sad situation the best way possible.

Second shipment came today 27 hours in the mail same results I notices heat packs were not working
My post office had baby chicks chirping away from a few other hatcheries that are just as far away and they said all the chicks were traveling together I'm going to give up on this venture cackle promised it was a fluke thing

Correction cackle dropped them at St Louis so they were in mail 18 hours

So, you lost 2 shipments of chicks? Oh my. That is very sad. I hope cackle refunds your money instead of trying to ship another order.
