Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
Meyer is having a special on a brown egg layer assortment thru noon on 8/4. They are only $1.38 each for 25 or more. I bought this assortment last month and was very pleased with it. I got at least 5 different breeds (they guarantee at least 3) and they were all quite healthy and still are doing great. They are in Ohio so not that far from you.
