Mail Orders and what to look for

I called the farm today ... they are shipping tomorrow which doesn’t make sense to me given the holiday but we will see what happens. I won’t order online again, but with my rookie mistake.. I wanted to make my ratio would be better sooner than later

There wouldn’t be the options and industry there is if it wasn’t feasible to ship day old poultry. Some don’t handle the travel as well as others, but as long as they’re packaged and shipped appropriately and you handle things as best you can from your end (ensuring you either have the PO call you, or call on arrival day to be able to pick them up as soon as they arrive) well, there’s nothing to say that they can’t be just fine when they arrive. No matter where or how you get babies, some of them may not make it. Here, due to the whole covid thing, most of the hatcheries aren’t shipping live birds directly to consumers, although they are still shipping via air to the co-ops in larger numbers. It seems like location has played a large part in how shipping has gone for everyone this year, unfortunately. :(

I tell you what, with COVID and everything else this year, these little duckies of mine have brought me (and my co-workers via zoom) so much happiness... I’ve always loved ducks and if I could turn my entire backyard into an aviary I would! 🤣

They arrived today!!! Healthy and the cutest flockers I’ve seen! (I’m biased) 🥰

I got them from Metzer farms... 2 of each of the following breeds: black runner, khaki Campbell, welsh harlequin and Cayuga!
