Mailing eggs via Post Office

I live in Raleigh NC... I want to mail eggs to a baker in VA... I've never done this before... what kind of packaging and costs would be involved for 4 doz eggs each week...

Hatchery Hive- when I mail eggs, I wrap each one in bubble wrap, place them in an egg carton and tape the egg carton together. Then I pad out the bottom of the box with newspaper, place the carton inside and stuff newspaper all around it until everything is nice and tight. You don't want the cartons to move (keep in mind mine were for hatching, you may be able to be a bit more lax for eating eggs).
That being said, you may want to check the laws regarding shipping eggs to VA. I used to live there, and they have some pretty strict laws about shipping eggs and chicks into the state. There were a few hatcheries and other NPIP certified small farms that couldn't ship me live chicks or eggs when I lived there, so you may want to at least check (or risk having your eggs destroyed).

Good luck.

I have close friends who moved from CA to MD for jobs when market was bad here in CA. I'm retired and moved to desert and just ready to open up the ranch for fresh eggs. Gals are beginning to lay, but only peewee eggs thus far as opposed to large brown later on, whenever that will happen. I'm new at this and read everything related to egg selling. Question: my friends want our eggs because I feed them non gmo feed and organic veggies to compliment diet. Has anyone sent out fresh eggs through mail? If so, I understand by several posts not to wash eggs, but I refrigerate eggs as produced, so they may drop in temp with mailing. Is that safe? Any suggestions? They are my best friends and keep asking for fresh eggs and they will send me crab meat- MD BLUE CRAB...
