Maine chicken swaps 2010

Hoppy, that's absolutely horrible! Please keep us posted - one of the three chicks I bought from you back in the spring is a beautiful Black-laced rooster. He takes very good care of his girls and I'm hoping at some point I'll have a hen go broody and hatch a few chicks from him & the two blue-laced girls I got. If so, I'll let you know - since they all came from you.

Hoppy, that's just awful. I hope you find one of your guys!

I so do too. I've been working on these for a few yrs now, hate to take a step backwards. figured I was pretty safe holding onto 2 roosters, guess I was wrong.

Too bad we aren't closer to Nat...she's got BLRW roos she is looking for homes for. She has an auction (to give away) in the 8 weeks and older section. (from foley)

I purchased 3 PBR chickens from a gentleman at TSC in Augusta on 9/11/10. Were these from your flock as well? Sorry no BLRW available at that time. You may be able to have the store inquire about people that made chicken supply transactions on that particular day and maybe they can give you names and you can research it that way.....just a thought.

what are PBR? if you mean Barred Rocks, not mine, I pretty much only raise bluel laced red wyandottes and silkies (had a few marans then as well)
I don't know that the store would have that info. they never ask me for anything more then my zipcode.

yes PBR= plymouth barred rocks sorry. I guess I should have just put BR. Can you start incubating eggs? If not I have an incubator and I'd be happy to do it for you. I'm 20 mins south of Augusta.

I have an incubator and I have pulled the last 6 eggs out of the fridge but I don't think my roos were old enough. one just started crowing this week and his sisters were just starting to lay. I sold my other rooster about 2 months ago knowing that I had at least if not 2 cockerals. I know I can hatch eggs from the fridge which is how i got most of my flock back after the weasel attack in feb (we killed that weasel) and most of those eggs had been in there 2+ weeks. but these, I'm not so hopeful.

If mine weren't all mixed together (and I knew exactly what I was getting) I'd give you some eggs to get back on your feet...but BLRW mixed with either BR, BO or RIR probably won't help you too much...

actually if you really want to help me out, a drop of food coloring (blue or green) in her vent, will mark the eggs as laid. I have my incubator up and running if your willing.
