Maine chicken swaps 2010

I was disappointed by what was there in Augusta for a Farm Day. Took and hour and forty five minute drive to find only a few chickens. I was hoping to pick up a female goose for my Tufted Roman gander.

I think the chicken stock was better and vendors stayed longer.

Sorry we missed everyone for this swap. Was not feeling well at all. Better today and had a great show at Skowhegan.

Would you guys like to do another Sunday swap in Augusta? Sept. 26th looks open. Not sure how the 5th would work where it's a Holiday week end.

Oops meant to post this on the TSC post sorry

can I just rant here for a moment. as some of you know or may not, I've been sick lately and in the hospital. I have tried to reduced some of my flock so those that are caring from my birds have less to do. I advertised on CL and get all these emails- can you send me pictures, can give an extensive history etc etc. I am too sick to be doing this. I have not seen my birds in almost 1 week as I just can't get there and they want pictures and can I deliver or meet them. I was selling pairs for 1/2 what I normally would and these people....
why am I even bothering I should just give away the roosters and keep the hens in with the regular flock. I don't have the energy to deal with people like that.
done rant, thanks

I had that experience too on CL. Folks asking tons of questions, asking for pictures and directions to my place.....and then they don't show up! I have lots of nice chicks and can't seem to sell them!

Pay no attention to these silly people and take good care of yourself!

You'll never get rid of the inquisitive out there. I too ran into all those same questions and I learned to try and put in all the information I could including for "pick up only".

I had people actually coming over to buy only to check out how I raised my chickens because they had chickens and wanted to know a better way. I figure that those people are the newbie's out there that are trying to learn and it's just something I have to deal with. The others are just the tire kickers.

Hope you are feeling better.
