Maine Swaps 2011

Gordonhillfarm, when you are on the buying end, you judge. I had been asked to report my impression. I assumed I was expected to be forthright. Unless you have money to burn, which I do not, I think it would be irresponsible not to be selective. I was referring to health & poor condition. I have heard horror stories from people, some right here on BYC of introducing sick birds into their flock and losing them all and having to start over from scratch.

Who said they thought it was a "private social club for breeders"? I didn't see that posted anywhere.

Again, it was a good day and I am looking forward to the next one.

I would agree that some of the stock looked a bit bedraggled. However, I don't know how far those birds were transported for the swap. I think as a buyer you always need to be wary of your purchases, no matter how healthy they look. A good 4-6 week quarantine for any new stock should be standard to avoid heartbreaks.

Hey guys! I just had a quick question.... First, a bit of background. I am planning to attend the Lewiston chicken swap on Saturday, but I just decided that I wanted to sell my 10 mo BO cockeral/rooster. I have posted him on Craigslist, but I wanted to know if he wasn't gone by Saturday, if I could bring him? Is it ok to bring just one chicken? If so, do I have to stay the whole time? I have a prior commitment for the afternoon, so I would have to leave early... Let me know if you have the answers to any of these questions or if you know of someone who does!

Thanks for helping the swap newbie!

Is there a thread started for the Brunwick swap? Not sure which one we are going to next

I know that one is both days, the 7th and the 8th. Anyone going to Brunswick?
