My family and I have made the decision to raise some chickens for both friendship and egg production. I grew up in rural western Massachusetts where there were many dairy farms, and have always loved farms and farm animals. I currently live in South Thomaston, Maine, and am looking for some direction as to where I can get some new baby chicks. I do have some neighbors, so we really only want hens, and no roosters. I am aware that sometimes you do not always get what you want, but I am hoping for all hens. Can someone here please direct us to a reliable and friendly chick supplier?
To give you a better idea of where we are, it is the midcoast - Rockland area.
