Maine: Young RIR's looking for new homes

I wish we could take them; love to have some roos, but we live in suburbia and roos are outlawed. I had to fight all summer to be allowed hens... don't think the city council would be pleased.

If you don't get any replies on craigslist, try freecycle. You won't get any $ for them, but they'll go to a good home.

It's probably a good idea to check out any home your chickens are going to BEFORE you let them go, Freecycle or elsewise.

Why? To make sure its not for like cockfighting or something? It may be hard to see 9 different homes if they go to different ones.

Is it allowed to post animals on freecycle?

haha, we had a guy say he wanted them, but couldnt afford enough land to keep them. It's like, thats useful to us how?

Haha we got prank call at 2 o'clock in the morning. The guy was all like "I want roosta!"

Nope. One person who sounded serious left a message about a half hour ago but didnt leave any contact info, but said she would call back later. And she only wants one. Sheesh, this might take a while

Someone came to get one today. He is going to a home with 8 girls all to himself

SOLD!(well, given away, but it doesnt sound as cool)

Good for you. I am also in ME trying to give away 2 roosters and having a tough time. I've had a bunch of people interested and spent a bunch of time replying, sending pics, etc. and no one has come through. I've tried craigslist, freecycle and uncle henrys. What next? Glad you found homes for yours!!
