They gave us a barred chick for free as it had splayed legs. My daughter of course said yes...but its panting away :(

Not enough to make a pie so I did buy some at Shaws today.

So tomorrow is pie day. And fence day. My escape artist, Gosi, has been out several times this week. The neighbor put him back in the pasture twice on Thursday. I have the fence. The posts are in, with only a couple I need to dig up and add set in concrete and I have fence staples and cable ties to attach the fence. Then I can get to work on the dog fence. Hardest part will be building two gates for that.

Our little barred chick is still breathing fast... even when sleeping. Makes me nervous as the 2 other chicks are with him. Anything I can do to help him? ??

I'm not sure. I worked really hard to keep our little cochin fed, watered, and comfortable while her breathing was so labored, and she ended up passing anyway. I would guess that all long as the temp is good, and you are making an effort to get food and water into her, that's all you can do.

Did you say his legs were splayed?
