So... if you want Swedish, Anconas or a few mutts let me know. I'd like them to go to good homes. My son loves them to bits and has them all eating out of his hands, literally, so they are going to be friendly and deserve to be cared for.

How many ladies have you got? I was thinking about 3-4 to go along with the one khaki I plan to keep

Can chickens start molting this time of year??? All of a sudden no one is laying...thought maybe they were laying in the yard can't find anything

Is anyone interested in two baby turkeys? They were hatched a few days ago. No idea the sex. One looks like it will be blue, the other brown. I have 3 female turkeys - two pure bourbon reds and a blue slate mix who looks mostly blue. I have two toms - one is mostly blue slate and the other is mostly bronze.

The babies were in danger being with their mom - she kept stepping on them and fighting with the rest of the flock. I removed them this morning (I originally had 3 babies but one didn't make it through the fighting) and put them in a brooder in the basement, but I do not want to be raising poults.

Went to the Oxford swap today. Sold the chicks we decide not to keep. DD sold.lots of her homemade dog and chicken treats...then some how we ended up leaving with 4 Old English birds spangled roo and 3 BB red Old Eng hens...6 weeks old. Decided the Polish are too flighty for my liking :(

I'm thinking that my Pioneer girls are too nice to eat. They're not as big as the boys. They should be pretty good layers. Any thoughts out there about what i should ask for them at POL? And, is it likely that there would be buyers for them? They're about 12 weeks old now.

Well going on 10 days now of a broody hen. She is nonstop sitting. Finally caught her outside and snuck over to the coop to see how many she is sitting on (4 other hens
and maybe an egg a day the past week) thought maybe she was hoarding or others just laid next to her...anyways open the nesting box door to find a babysitter! !! Another hen sitting on her eggs. I was sweet talking her trying to peek a look and she freaked! !!! My roo came running and my broody hen came running in feathers flared I swear she looked puffed up as big as a turkey. What a commotion! !!! Lol!!!

QT, you're going to have chicks coming out your ears!  Who needs an incubator when you have a broody and she has a babysitter?
I was surprised myself! !!!! I need to figure out what I am keeping and focusing on!!! I love the look of Polish and love the ones I decided to keep but they are so flighty and skittish I don't want the kids to be scared off. My DD is fine with the chicks but is scared of the 6 week olds now. I am hoping my silkies work out and can hatch d ominiques for me lol!!!!!

The polish chicks we sold this weekend were such an easy sell because they have such a different look lol!!! Which is why I like them

I have 12 ducklings but as of this morning about half of those are spoken for. I don't know the sexes on the ducklings yet so you'd be running risks all over again if you took those. They do eat well though :) Let's pm about it.

I have started to transition my gosling babies out to day care. We have a very nice Seb pappa who is taking charge over them. He is so gentle that he is pushed all over the yard by everyone-- till now. I saw him take on the top female her yesterday in an amazing show of determination and protection claiming those babies. I am still giggling and shaking my head proudly.

We are finally almost done with the garden. I am chancing putting in corn late since the geese got in and pulled it all out. Went to the lake this weekend and finally had a real taste for summer. Winter really traumatized us all I think but it feels like its gone now even if I have to stack wood for the next one.
