Next project is some storage for bags of feed, shavings, treats, and cleaning tools. DW thinks a privy would make an fun project that fits with her primitive decorating style. I've been looking for plans and think I found one I like, hope she likes it too.
Love the storage privy, striperron! we use the old privy at camp for storage too. DH wanted to burn it down...the pryo!! I told him it'd be a good storage shed because I didn't want all that stuff in the new privy! Nice pics, lazygardener!! Your Buddy looks like our Boo. She was rescued from under a car hood at 4 weeks old in a field that was being bush hogged. Caught two naughty girls making their way around the fence to the neighbor's newly seeded lawn yesterday. When I saw them I hollered at them. They looked guilty then froze in place like "maybe she won't notice us if we don't move." As soon as I started towards them, they hightailed back like "who us? We weren't doing anything!"

Love the photos, LG. What kind of daylily is that? Very pretty.

DH built a couple more cages for me yesterday. He had stacked them up one on top of the other, 3-story condo-style, with large rectangular plastic lids under each floor. Then he put three roosters (including the one I'm keeping) in the new cages, taking them out of the cages they were in. Two of the cages they were formerly in are much bigger, but it bothers DH that they can't stand up fully, although they can stand up enough to pace and move around.

By the time I got home, the top two condo-dwellers had spilled all their food and water, creating a trickling waterfall and huge mess. I ended out moving everyone back. The good news is, now I have two extra cages, so the next bad boy has a place to go. I made a point of expressing my gratitude. I needed more cages, despite being a little grouchy about cleaning up a big mess on Friday evening. I was glad that when I put my keeper rooster back in his big, but low cage, he started chuckling about the new shavings. I don't think he is all that unhappy in there, despite the low ceiling. Two more weeks of this before freezer camp!

Thanks for the compliments on the pics. I'm not sure what kind of day lily that is. I went on a collecting spree with my criteria being: It must be either fragrant, reblooming, not overly tall, drop dead gorgeous, not orange or yellow, or all of the above. I have quite a few varieties, but a lot of them have lost their tags, and they are overgrown with weeds, and need lots of attention. Some day... My problem is that i am passionate about way too many things... go running in a dozen directions at once and have a hard time keeping up with what I start.

Hubby made good progress on the new coop today. 3 Walls completed, the 4th wall almost finished and ready to stand up. We've made some changes in the plans already. Will add a 3rd window which will be on the east wall. That makes 2 on the south, one on the east, and a full glass door on the east. Lots of light. Storage closet open to outside on the north, about 4'W x 2'D. Not full height, so there will be room inside for a rooster jail/broody cage inside above the closet.

I finally re-did the fencing to give the girls full access to the garden. This is the first day that I haven't had renegades eating my grass seed. Too many goodies to be had in the garden. I had my 8 y.o. plus 17 little helpers helping me dig potatoes. It's a wonder that the little helpers didn't get impaled by the garden fork. This morning, there were 5 girls stacked on top of each other in one nest box, and 2 in the other one. Of course, they had 2 others to choose from as well... but, they're like 3 y.o.'s: "If you have it, I want it."

AWESOME job with the pictures, Lazygardiner! And you claimed not to be very "computer-savy!"

So last year, I posted about my SLW being my prettiest chicken, but also my loudest. How I could hear her over everyone else-same thing with this new SLW. LG, how vocal is yours? Since she is a sister.:)

Great photos, LG! You have been busy! The only way I trained my naughty girls to lay in the boxes and not under the ramp was to block off access. Not sure if that is really feasible in your situation, though.

I'd have to block off the entire yard.... which of course is why i have a fence up around their run... some gals just don't have any respect for a fence!!!

I can't take credit there. Hubby talked me through it, and I couldn't repeat it again if my life depended on it.
