My first year laying Buff Orps are not laying well right now at all. I think my Easter Eggers are really pulling the load for everyone right now, and I do attribute it to the heat. I'm guessing their bigger body size has something to do with it, and the genetics that give the blue egg gene to the EE's may give some heat tolerance as well. Even my silkie hen that's laying is pretty consistent right now. Just not the BO's. Oh well, in winter I'm sure it will flip.

I admit I don't have the best memory, but I don't ever remember having a summer like this. 80 - 90 every day and sunny. I'm not getting many outdoor projects done (too hot), nor those rainy-day projects (too nice out). I've done some kayaking and tidal canoeing, which was fun. You only have to check the tides, not the weather, since the weather is always the same.

We are watering sparingly. There was only a light sprinkle here yesterday. No problems with our well yet....

Yeah, our first two summers I had only used a single AC for two weeks or so in July. Now i've had sometimes two going, with one having run for almost a month straight.

Can we all agree to do a rain dance tomorrow?
Yep, what time?

Been here 10 years and my irrigation system consists of me standing outside with a hose.
Ditto, that! We have a very deep well and only get 1.5 gal./min. So, I don't do much watering. My lawn is very crispy. I'm watering the squash in the HK mound, my carrot beds, green beans, tomatoes and zucchini. Everything else is on it's own.

I have 2 sets of soaker hose. Unfortunately, they're both still in the garage, in the original packaging. (Miracle grow)

Have any readers actually used this stuff? I bought it last year at a really good price. May even install it next year.

I have one AC in bedroom, and one in the LR. We use the fans until it's hotter out than it is inside, then I turn on the AC. Reverse the process when the inside/outside temps reverse themselves. I do not feel at all guilty about using AC to keep the temp reasonable inside. I simply wilt in the heat.
