I was going to make it one of those "lost connections" creepy things you see in the paper or Craigslist but I don't want to scare anyone else today.

To clarify post it in that style but on here.

No red trail blazer here. You should have passed them SCG, and made sure they saw your license plate. In my family, DH is the outgoing one, so I can relate to BF's mortification. I am becoming less shy and less mortified as I get older.

In chicken news, one of my hens seems to be hit particularly hard by the molt. Most of my hens always act a little under the weather when they molt, But today I noticed that this hen's legs are pretty weak. She'll take some normal-looking steps, but then her legs will buckle and wobble. I'm not sure if this is because of the molt, or a different issue.

I scrambled an egg for her, and she ate some of it before other hens gobbled it up. This hen is afraid of me, and I had tried locking her in the community nest box with the dish of egg, but she was so terrified of being locked up that she ignored the dish and busted her way out. Eventually I was able to lock her outside with some egg, so she could eat without competition. I'm hoping she'll get her strength back. Time will tell.

Maine tags, or I wouldn't have asked. I was thisclose to honking and waving (complete with my own poultry related tags) but BF was with me and he was mortified as to my possible actions.
I am capable of either mortifying or stupefying my hubby by my actions any time we are out and about. My dump picking, scavenging ways are an embarrassment to him. He has a hard time wrapping his head around my thought processes. I find that the older I get, the easier it is to simply go about my business and carry on with my red neck ways.

Ok 2 things

First we got this cute little egg today, not sure what one of the girls though. Do you think there is anything to it...

Second one of the Eastereggers we got from my aunt has had soft mucusie poo, though it was just from her molting and transition to our place, today noticed this with her, kind of bloody one. Any thoughts

We get those tiny eggs a lot, especially when a hen is just starting up after a break.

I am not sure if the droppings are normal or not. They do shed some intestinal lining, giving a bloody look on occasion. If she is looking healthy (other than the molt), I would think she is okay.

Hey folks, I too am fighting the rat-battle here in the fringe of Androscoggin County. The little buggers are literally climbing the walls through the tiniest of gaps in the wire to get to the coop area and digging holes under multiple feet of concrete to gain access to the dirt sections. It's quite maddening. I did buy a newer version of the plastic snap trap and had one very large kill on that. More have been laid out in hope of success. Fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, two of my Buff Orpington chicks have turned into lovely robust young cockerels. The bulk of my easter egger/buff mixes are pullets. If anyone wants a free rooster or two, please let me know.

Not sure if anyone else has seen it, but a documentary about Rats just aired last week. It's literally just called Rats... made by the Super Size Me guy. I believe it was on Discovery if you want to check your guide.

I knew they were adaptable had had good learning abilities, but ****... explains why they are now completely avoiding my glue traps and tomcat traps.

If you are seeing blood you should treat for cocci, just in case it is a very mild medicine and you just add it to their water
