This is my first hatch for ths year - actually hatched on 11/22/2011

Eggs from elsewhere and some of mine.

Mille Fleur, Calico & Mottled Bantam Cochins.

The Calico color is really cool and I want more Mille Fleurs, but only the mottleds can be shown at shows.

Ohh, you have lavender for sale, hoppy? I love lavender, but it would depend on where you live. I don't exactly have regular access to a car. I thought I was going to get the "retirement" money from my old job's private program, but the paperwork got lost in the mail, so it could take a couple months to come up with a down payment for a car, ugh.

I love seeing all the pictures of these beautiful chickens!! So cute.

I ended out calling them. They do have a retail store, but a 50 lb. bag of layer feed was around $15, - not enough of a savings for me to be inspired to drive there. I didn't ask for a price on it, but you can have a 1000 pound bag filled from the silo. That's a lot of feed!

My friends who feed organic are ordering a pallet of feed directly from Vermont. There is a shipping cost, and I'm not sure how many bags of feed are in a pallet, but they said they will save money, even with the shipping added in.

I'd love to watch and help-out at rooster processing time too. I need the experience so I can be brave enough to do it at home too.

I don't know why I am asking, because just yesterday, I announced that we didn't have any more room, and that no more birds were allowed for another year (when I finally might be able to get rid of some without feeling bad, as they should be slowing way down).

yes people bring eggs but usually you are better to ask ahead of time so you can be sure those eggs you want will be at the swap reserved for you. spring swaps might be good for this but I will be hatching all I get at that point as I'm sure alot of othe swappers will be. if you bought eggs now, you'd have a better chance of getting them although fertility might not be as high as spring.
also the swaps are a great place to sell off extras you decided you don't really need.
