Maine

lost one of my pullets, no sign of ilness so don't no what happened. trying to catch up on this thread, Sorry annabanana that you lost yor chickens, sounds like a coyote. My neighbor up in back of me had his flock scattered and some killed, his guinea hen ended up here and some of his flock came home the next day. He has had attacks from coyotes in daylight and night. I have several dogs so far I have been lucky. My uncle had one of his hens disapear, but I have seen an Eagle come right down over the house and I must say what a gorgeous sight to see tottally beautifull . My coops are pretty close to the house. last year we had removed 16 coons from here as well as a family of fox and a skunk. hopefully no more predators. Fox usually carries them off. coyotes seem to scatter and kill and injure the chickens.
Welcome lazy gardener !

Sorry Hoppy about your Gray.

Glad to hear Widget that you have a job, hope it works out for you.

Hoppy, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Our animals are so much more than pets, it must be especially hard when it's one that's been with you so long.

Keric, welcome! I'm not far from you either- I'm in farmingdale- If I just hop on the pond road and bang a left on western ave, I'd be in winthrop in no time!

Hi Mainechick168,

I'm in Farmingdale too. Hi Neighbor!

sadly I lost my companion of 29 yr today. my african grey passed away very unexpectly. deep breath in, deep breath out. I'm going to really miss her "I love you's" she was just so sweet, always.

Hi Hoppy,

So sorry to hear about your loss! Was this the bird you had with you at Tractor Supply in Augusta? It is never easy losing one of our furry or feathered friends. Thinking of you!

no, this was a different bird. she wasn't beautiful to most people (lacking chest feathers and a mix of red feathers over the rest of her body) but she was the most beautiful to me.

So in the end we have 5 healthy chicks from this hatch. No more eggs have pipped in the last 24 hours. The one I assisted with is doing great - so I am glad I did. Here are a few pics.
