Maine

I just had a hawk attempt to have a meal in my yard....All I saw was the rooster chasing it away- I went out and did a quick head count and everyone is here- no feathers around, and they all seem un touched. I'll tell you what though, they are all talking about it now...very loudly!

BAD, BAD, BAD HAWK! I hope he goes elsewhere for his meal. I had them circling my yard all last summer every day, and I didn't even have any chickens then. I doubt that I'll be able to do ANY free ranging.

Oh my gosh! I have eggs being shipped to me otday from 2 different places...I really really hope the storm doesnt muck things up too badly.

Btw, if my hatch goes ok, is anyone interested in some seramas??? I dont knkw what I was thinking, I dont do bantams! But they are so cute and tiny...

A different fox was back here today, prowling around. BF luckily saw it and locked the ducks up.

Dunno why we are so plagued with predators right now.

I need a real hands on lesson in candling. Anyone up for this? Come to the house, show me what's what... maybe get some canned goods or eggs to go home with and a lot of gratitude? IDK why I suck at this. I looked at a few eggs today and all I saw was nothing or a dark mass at one end. Or nothing because the shells were too dark. A drawback to Marans and Ams.

Kinsey... I might need your services after all. So many eggs!

Hey guys! Wnted to introduce myself. Im in canaan maine and I am new to the chicken world we just got our flock of buff orpington chickens (6) they are straight run so if anyone is interested in a buff orpington rooster let me know we might (most likely will) have one (im thinking three).
