it takes me almost 1 hour to drive to Lewiston and I'm closer then you are according to google maps.

! We are in Monroe, so not very far from Lewiston, more country.

I hate when my chicks can't count. I have call ducks due tomorrow, well they decided today was a better day to hatch. opened the incubator to move the eggs to the hatcher and there were 3 ducklings looking at me.

Can anyone tell me what happened here!? I went to collect eggs this afternoon and found this, the shell is completely hard but has this thing coming out of the not fully enclosed top.

Maybe they were trying to make you an ornament?

In all seriousness, open that sucker up! Find out what it is.

Does anyone in the Augusta/Waterville area have a forsythia bush they'd be willing to let me make some cuttings from?

Well I opened it and once I removed the shell from the "tail" there was just that fairly hard ball attached, the rest of the inside of the egg looks normal.

holy cow, I missed that, isn't monroe near belfast? Thats got to be a two hour drive! But then again, when you live in the country and things are so far away, I guess 2 hours really is not too far!

you shold have heard me this past weekend when I dug up the 6 that I planted 5 yrs ago that barely bloom. I finally said, either you will live or die in the new place I plant you, but you certainly are nothing to look at for the time you have spent where you were and the extra care i gave you get you to bloom. I've moved them to a sunnier location. which brings me to my point. there are tons of them on the side of road (not in peoples yards) and someone told me he would just got dig up a few root balls. since you want branches, maybe you can just trim some off the highway.

yuck, that's gross but hopefully it will be the only one you have like that. looks like something got into the ovaduct and the hen walled it off and into an egg.

I have to admit I only see them in people's yards.

However, I was really nice today and took 2 dozen eggs to my neighbors house to scope out his bushes. I do believe he goes back to work on Saturday... his bushes will be unguarded. I may go over there to drop off some more eggs and become accidentally tangled in his bushes, requiring that I cut myself out of them...
