Maine

where is the fair???

In Union, Maine. That is up near the Rockport and Camden area. Never been myself. Actually I have not been to any of the fairs in years. I used to go every year with my father to the Cumberland Fair but since his passing in 2002 I have not been. And while I really like the Fryeburg Fair I do not like the traffic getting in and out.

Hoppy, Love the cat pictures. You're right, what more proof does the state need. However, I think it's political. (the fact that they deny that they're in the state, b/c if they have to admit it, then they may have to list them as an endangered species, or some such malarkey) I'd be tempted to follow the SSS policy in my back yard if one started hanging around. If it doesn't exist, you can hardly get in trouble for shooting it! With the size of those animals, and their hunting instincts, a child wouldn't stand a chance with one of those around.

Widgett: Loved the pictures of your pets. My sister is a vet, specializing in avian medicine, and has had a number of parrots. I forget what her current one is, but she's had it for a long time.

I gave my girls quite a thrill tonight. Hubby cut down a few ash saplings, so I dragged 3 of them into the chicken run, lashed the tops together with baling twine, stood them up and spread the bottoms out, tee-pee style. I left the branches on each sapling, and buried the bottoms to provide more stability. The chickens spent the rest of their day making happy chicken noises under their tee-pee. I'm hoping that the leaves stay attached, even if they do turn brown.

I know the feeling. I live in the middle of it for the whole week. The only pro is that I don't have to cook dinner all week. We gorge on fair food.
