I was wondering about the ages in the broader. I'm giddy to get a few TSC chicks soon because if my broody doesn't accept the two chicks hatching Monday I want to brood them together. I wish they listed what was in each store and when they were coming in. I'm 45 minutes from three stores so I want to know before I go.

I'm guessing they have no idea what they will be getting, and even don't know what day of the week the chicks will be coming in. Seems like poor customer service, not to mention stress for the staff and stress for the poor chicks.

Yeah I have found the TSC employees to be less than knowledgable when it comes to chickens. With that said the six Tetra Tints I picked up in Windham last year have been great birds. Two roos and four pullets is what I ended up with for the guy just grabbing six a random. They were on sale for $0.50 ea. since they were not selling too well and it was the end of the season. The trough they were in and also the ones that the ducks and other birds were in was clean and dry with plenty of fresh food and water so I can not complain they did not take care of the birds.

And they are at the mercy of corporate. If the word is not passed down to the individual stores than the employees can only do so much. Or if the management does not pass the word along then the individual employees are not a fault. As for customer service I admit I have been ruined after working for LL Bean. It is so hard not to compare their level with what every other place does. And 99% of the other places I shop at rate low on customer service, The remaining 1% are the two feed stores and sub shop I frequent.

Longhorn IS really great! I'd travel a good distance, just to give them my business. (It's about 30 miles, round trip, now.)

They just need a larger parking lot. It is always an adventure getting in and out especially when I have a round bale in the back of the truck. So glad I have learned to back up just using my side mirrors.

Do you mean, like 15 miles each way? I don't go to any store without driving close to 20 miles one way, so when I go, I plan to make a day of it, cramming as many errands into a trip as I can before I have to rush home to meet the school bus.

We have an old bird house out back on a cedar tree that really should come down. Last fall, I started banging on it to see if there was any one in residence... out popped some baby flying squirrels. so the bird house got to stay for an other season. Today, I decided it was time for it to come down, so started whacking it with a 2 x 4... out popped some MORE baby flying squirrels. Do those things ever quit??? They are just so cute, that I can't destroy their abode. However, reds... or greys.... different story!

Nice looking coop Branch Chickens! How big?

It's right around 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 ft. We're expecting 9 hens, so it should be just about right. Their run will encompass most of those the rose bushes out back (they're on the left in the picture), as well as a big maple.

I feel so blessed because, after this picture was taken, we were able to get a neighbor who owns a local construction business/gravel yard to drive over with a big tractor with forks. After a few precarious tries, where we attempted to lift it from the back end of the trailer, they ended up removing slats on one side of the trailer and lifting it off that way. There was one scary moment where it was lifted way up in the air, and it looked like it was going to crash down to the ground, but they were able to set it down quickly and stabilize it. The neighbor, bless his heart, would only let us pay him ten dollars for the help. I am so thankful!
