Maine

I go to Woodsome's Feed and Need in Waterboro. The shavings are 5 bucks.nice and dry and fluffy but obviously compacted! I love the older people.i find the younger ones not so friendly.its convenient for me.i did go to longhorns once.good experience but further away.

question for y'all, I'm a new to raising chickens, one of my buff Orpington chicks has a cough, what can cause this and how do I help my little blond chick?

She is just 2 weeks 2days old

We need more information of this nature on the Maine site.  It's helpful to share news of a good product when we find one.  IMO, it would go a long way to fostering some healthy competition between competitors to provide good quality materials.

There's a lot of "egg song" going on in my yard when the girls are out ranging.  I have 2 new layers in the nest boxes.  I've looked long and hard, haven't found any hidden nests.  Should I be concerned about the singing in my yard????

My girls have been doing their egg song ALL the time lately! I'm beginning to think I can't call it their egg song anymore. So loud. I don't know what has changed... no change in production, just additional noise. Good thing I have easy neighbors.

Maybe an alarm call Izzybella? Mine do that with any perceived threat, - even if it is non-threatening, like the neighbor's cat strolling by. I think the breed makes a difference too, or maybe I just have an alarmist rooster, but my Ameraucana flock is much louder than the other two flocks combined!

It might be, bucka, but it definitely does not sound like their alarm call. When I go check on them it is often just one of the barred rocks squawking away calmly while the others totally ignore her. I have found my rocks are by far the noisiest breed of the three I have (barred rocks, buff orpingtons and golden comets). I aso wonder if they make more noise when bored?? I put an entire lettuce plant that bolted in the run today and they have been occupied with it. Occupied appears to = quiet!

Oh, the honey looks so delicious! When I was growing up we used to buy it in the comb and spread it on toasted and buttered English muffins, wax and all. It was awesome.

We bought 100 pounds of blueberries today and loaded up the freezer. Tomorrow we'll make jam.
