Thinking I have another weasel checking out the coop and run. I swear I'm gonna sit down there and wait for it to show so it can meet the same fate as the one this summer did. These are the tracks in the snow. They are 2 different sets.

I got out my Scats and Tracks of the Northeast for you. I can't see much on your picture of the individual print... only on the pattern of the prints together with the "drag" mark and the almost parallel prints. Here's the pertinent parts of weasel:

So without being able to see the individual print and just using the print pattern, I'd agree with weasel.

If you guys don't have a Scats and Tracks book or a game cam, I highly suggest both.

I know some people were suggesting rats but I was thinking a weasel. The tracks didn't show a particular print or I would of taken a pic of it. I do have to get a game cam. I had one from when I used to bear hunt but it got mangled. Guess I will be on the hunt for a weasel and keep a close eye on the girls. Thank you

I hope you catch your weasel, Diana. I'm bad at reading tracks, but it does look like the pattern in SCG's book.

I noticed that this spring snow revealed a lot of animal activity (in the form of tracks). Nothing sinister here though. For some reason we never get the wild turkeys in our yard, but one did wander through the other night.

Last night I set eggs for my small hatch, limiting myself to what would fit in an 18 hole egg carton. Really, it is more like 15 eggs because my three darkest brown eggs were infertile at last check. I put them in anyway, as wishful thinking. I hope I get some pullets!

All those eggs make me think broody hen... Does anyone here have experience with silkies and the age the first time they go broody? I'm just wondering how long I have before I need to be ready for that wonderful experience.
