I just wanted to invite everyone to visit my FB page "stained glass by bobbi" and check out not only my stained glass but the emu eggs I have carved. i seem to be on a roll with the birds, 3 hummingbirds, a zebra, tiger, panda, parrot- well just go see...
I do sell these as well as the stained glass. all are custom made.

I just have to share my excitement!!! I actually have eggs pipping!

I thought for sure the eggs in the bator were gonners, after loosing power for days during Irene, and trying to maintain with tealite candles. Too high-too low.. Then my humidity was waaay off.. Argh! They are actually hatching! Woooooooot! Had to share!!

that is awesome- the incredible (edible) egg as they say.
I wanted to thank everyone that visited my fb page and commented on my works. This really keeps me going and gives me inspiration to make new items and crafts.

Reaching out for help and advice here...
I had one young hen die yesterday overnight, and I have another hen from the same batch that did not make it into the barn tonight. Yesterdays hen that died was OK in the AM, and tonight the one that is sick was OK this AM. I don't see anything physically wrong with either. The one I rescued tonight has a banged up eye, but i think from trying to make it into the barn. I purchased the two along with a rooster from a reputable breeder. The rooster, so far is OK, and all my other birds seem to be OK. I treated everyone for mites with Sevin about 5 days ago.
Neither bird was picked on....they free range, but these three in particular spent most of their time in the barn.
Any advice on what I should do? The one I brought in the house tonight is bedded down in some hay to keep it upright.
I am bummed, I like my feathered freinds....

I wonder about the sevins dust which it sounds like you may be as well. if they got too much of it, it could be toxic. my first thought is to bathe them to remove as much of this as possible (then blow dry and keep them warm). the worry about the sick one is that in giving the bath, you could kill her, but if you don't bathe her, she may still go down hill due to the poison. it might not even be the sevens dust but something maybe they got into to or found while free ranging. I googled it and found this:
Not really missing anything, but maybe missing some of the behavior of the
beast. Sevin has to be ingested, and has to be consumed in high quantity to
do its thing. Years ago, in the early eighties, I was working for the local
parks department in the forestry division. The city had a problem with a
little creature called Tusic Moth eating all the Blue Spruce trees, and as
the Blue Spruce was the state tree the founding fathers were understandably
upset, so we used a product called SevinMol on the trees. The Sevin did
exactly what it was supposed to do, which is it clogged up the moth's
digestive systems to the point where they couldn't take in enough to
survive, but it also had an unexpected side effect. The local Lark Bunting
population, which of course was the state bird, began eating the dieing
moths, and in turn began to die...

also try to offer some gator aide or other electrolyte to get the bird hydrated. offer some of the bird's food but make it smaller so it's easier for the bird to eat and if you have one, you might do a heat lamp although she's in the house so it's probably warm enough there.
dump and clean out any food or water containers that might have been contaminated and do a general look around for anything that they might have gotten into.
good luck

well i was in tractor supply tonight picking up a bag of dog food and the checker said that they have a new store thats going to open sometime this fall in dover foxcroft and the waterville store has been put off but is going to open some time in feb of next year i did ask about a farm swap meet like the stores in the southern part of the state are haveing all the time the guy i talked to said it sounded like a good idea and he would run it by the manager i told him that a bunch of there other stores do them all the time so his manager could contact them to see if it would be something that they can do in bangor and hopefully if bangor wont do one then the dover store will next spring cause for me anyways dover is only a 15 min longer drive than going to bangor so id be happy with one of them doing a swap anyways

They are beautiful. Where do you get your eggs? I had an emu egg that I kept on a display stand until one of the cats decided it was a fun toy to knock onto the floor. Fortunately she didn't knock the ostrich egg off the shelf. That egg has been in the family for over 40 years.

well the chicks i got as day old chicks on may 3rd from tsc have started to lay some eggs when i went to check on them last night my wife and 1 found 2 small pullet eggs then again this evening we found 3 more for a total of 5 eggs we werent expecting to find any thing till the end of this month or the first of next month so im thinking ive got to make a trip back to the feed store and pick up some layer feed instead of the grower finisher so in a way im happy about that cause the groweris running about 16 bucks a bag and the layer is inly 13.49 a bag so im going to be saveing some money cause i can feed the rest of the bag of grower to the 3 chicks i hatched back in july and when them 3 finish that 3/4 bag of feed they should be almost ready for the layer feed
