Maine

Did she crack them? Did others crack them trying to get into the nest? If they're not badly cracked you can wax them by dripping wax from a candle over the cracked part. Just make sure to do the smallest area you can. Is there any way you can partition her off? I made little "cages" and put them in using friction, I went out once a day and made her get off her nest, then locked her back in it.

Something like this:

Anyone interested in 2 ducklings? They will be a week old on Thursday. I am not sure what kind they are, they are both yellow. The woman I got the eggs from says they are most likely pekins and could possibly be a pekin cross or a harlequin cross. All I know is they're very personable, very messy (standard for ducklings), growing quickly and in need of a good home

She is in a cage by herself (w/ the eggs of course) inside to coop. I don't know how they were cracked, but she was irate when I took them out to check on them. I don't have an incubator, so I can't put the egg in there

Well I do need ducks. Okay I want more ducks but don't have any place to brood them right now. Somehow I don't think my five silkies who are currently hogging the brooder for the winter would welcome the youngsters.

And I finally made my Holderread's selection for April. I just sealed the envelope with the order form and check. So I should be receiving 5 Indian Runners (assorted colors), 5 Saxonies, 10 of their Rare Assorted (since I couldn't decide what I wanted) and 4 of the assorted Goslings (just because). Now I just have to wait until the end of April for them to arrive.

I'm not planning on keeping all of them. I do have a couple people who want a few. It is just easier to split an order. And since the babies come to my house I get to enjoy all the cuteness before they become destructive little juveniles.

. I swear ducks can make a gallon of water turn into five gallons the way they play in it.

well ive got 19 eggs set in my incubator due to hatch on the first or second i just candled about half of them and i have movement going on inside so thats a good thing they are just some muts but im sure they should lay brown eggs anyways and the extra roosters will go to frezzer camp

Anyone going to the Northeastern Poultry Conference? It's Jan 14th & 15th in Springfield, Mass. There will be a BYC table there, where BYCers can meet up and take a load off. Anyone willing to field questions at the table from the general masses for an hour or more is eligible for a 6 month GFM upgrade -PM Stoopid for details.

Hope to see you there! I'll be in my newly acquired blue (and man, is it blue!) BYC hoodie. -Martha
