Maine

If anyone is interested I just found an article stating that TSC is planning on opening a store in Millnocket sometime this summer. The Windham store is coming along and should open soon. I hope.

He's a Porcelain Belgian Bearded d'Uccle Rooster. They are bantams.
The varieties I have are Porcelain, Mille Fleur and Blue Mille Fleur.

This roo's name is "Louie"

joanie_maine, what type of chicken is that in your avatar ? I've never seen one like it.

my birds are on a roll today- 10 eggs!! 3 from my paint silkie pen which is really exciting for me. thought I'd hold off on hatching another group but this just tipped the scale, that and my lav/black wyandotte is giving me eggs too (and the rest of the group) I should have quite a selection of babies come swap time. (of course I will also sell prior to swaps if anyone is looking)

Awwww....

Funny Farms are the best though; no one quiet knows what to expect. lol
i swear i have the strangest animals. I have a newfoundland that doesnt like water, a german shepherd that is afraid of the dark, and now a half grown sizzle roo who is dominating the full grown cochin roo and taking his flock. My cochin is almost as big as my 2 year old daughter, and my sizzle is the size of a kitten...and yet the cochin runs from everything and never takes care of the girls and the sizzle stands his ground and defends the ladies. its my little funny farm i guess :)

So my last flock of chickens were mixed and I really miss being able to identify by sight at least "most" of my chickens. The Buckeyes look too much alike for individual pet names.

If I were to add to my flock at this point I'd love to just hand pick a hen here, a hen there, Oh look one of those pretties please...

Ideally I would love to add a couple of dark egg layers, some EE's and I suppose whatever caught my eye. It's so hard to just have one favorite; they are all so lovely!

had lots of hatching yesterday, mostly wyandottes, 2 sizzles and few lav and blue orps. I'll be excited to see if any that look blr truely are blr. their dad is a blue laced (think silver laced but instead of black lacing, he's blue laced on white) and moms are blr. these should be big birds, I know dad is.
next hatch will be mostly blr wyandottes and after that will be paint silkie and black wyandottes carrying lavender. the blacks should be huge- the black rooster is even larger then my blue laced and he's big.

not that I'm excited or anything, but I think my white sizzle is a paint sizzle. I'll have to wait and see as they don't alway hatch spotted but will be by 4 weeks old. (mom is a splash sizzle and dad is a paint)
