if she wants 1yo hens, she is going to pay a premium price this time of yr. she might just get some chicks now and start growing them or get rid of the last hen and just start over. I(sorry, but if it was fall, they be available but spring is coming so they demand a high price) but if she wants a smooth sizzle roo, she can have for the price of gas to come get him.

Hey All,
I have a friend who lost all but one of her flock to a predator. They have fixed the predator situation, but now has a lonely 1yr old hen looking for a friend. Anyone have a hen available around that age in the bridgton/raymond/windham area?

How much does she want to pay? I have two EEs that will be a year old in April that don't get along well with some of my flock (they pick on my runty chicken) and I wouldn't mind selling them. One of them stopped laying and went broody 3 few days ago, the other is laying. I'm in Vassalboro.

im sure shes willing to pay for a hen, not an arm and a leg, but some. Right jow she isnt concerned with breed, just getting a friend for her chicken. i dont know if she is willing to drive to vassalboro, but sent her a msg and asked :)

is anyone interested in free cockerals? tomorrow is the deadline. let me know tonight. 2 lav roos,1 barred wyandotte, 1 black orp, but mostly the smooth frizzle. he's not a problem but with the price of grain, i can't be feeding/keeping birds i have no intention of using.
also I have blue laced red chicks that just hatched so if anyone is interested in these as day1 ones, let me know. I have 5 boys, darkest will be going first.

I love my english orps, they are massive. Everyone that sees them thinks they are turkeys until they get close enough to see how heavy they are.

Havent "seen" you on here in a while, glad to see you :)

I have been eyeing orpingtons, especially the dark ones. They are lovely in black! I am keeping an eye on Hoppy, looking to see what she finally announces she will have for the swaps

alright, I'll give you my started list of what I will have.
orpingtons lavenders, and blacks (american) maybe a few english B/b/s (big maybe if I will part with any of them)
wyandottes in many different colors (blue laced reds, blue laced, whites, barred, blacks)
silkies- paints, split to paint, blue, black, splash, whites
sizzles- paints, splash, whites
easter eggers- none hatched yet, just set tonight- blue hen with lavender roo and blue laced roo.
and some black copper marans
and some misc chicks too, all large breed layer hen types- orpington type.
I think that just about covers it- and that is everything that I have hatched or is incubating right now.
I'll be holding back visual paint silkies and blue laced red wyandotte pullets until they are much older

Hi,
I take the winter off of the board. With 7 kids, their school, dh and I going to school, it is just too much work.

Hoppy, where did you get your orps from? I have a couple of 100% english girls and the rest are from Julie(bama, not sure of the % of english). I tried getting more of the 100% but I can only locate eggs at almost $200 dozen,

I won't spend that much on eggs....chicks are another story.

I would rather hatch my own jubilees

(since they are 100% english)

You know I can't give out my sharkie secrets on the english orps. I have american orps as well but different hatch dates so easy to keep track of at this time.I have started banding legs and wings to keep track of what I have. I had talked with julie (bama) but she had nothing separated yet.
I hatched a chick last night from my first generation lavender wyandotte project. I expected a black chick, it's got to be blue because I can't believe my first one is a lavender from black x lav. and the black dad is from a long line of black to black breedings. I'll have to oggle the baby some more this morning.
