You know I can't give out my sharkie secrets on the english orps. I have american orps as well but different hatch dates so easy to keep track of at this time.I have started banding legs and wings to keep track of what I have. I had talked with julie (bama) but she had nothing separated yet.
I hatched a chick last night from my first generation lavender wyandotte project. I expected a black chick, it's got to be blue because I can't believe my first one is a lavender from black x lav. and the black dad is from a long line of black to black breedings. I'll have to oggle the baby some more this morning.

. Well, if you ever make a 100% english orp pen can you let me know? I don't mind eggs if I can drive to get them, shipping just destroys them IMO. Until then I will work with my other awesome breeds......finally making breeder pens this year

the sharkies are still around,just not as easy to see where everyone is bidding.
I've debated giving up my wyandotte breedings and switching to orps but in the back of my mind, I still remember that really nasty hatchery orp I used to have and keeps me thinking, will I have a nasty roo like that again? all my wyandottes have been really sweet and the rosecomb is so nice in the winter. we just need to get some size on them and I am working on that.

do a search for dairy farms in maine or dairy producers in maine (or organic beef0 if that's the kind of cows you are looking for.there probably are some in your area, just hiding in plain site.

Hi all! It's been a while. I've been busy with my new job, yepyep. This summer, though, I've still got plans to build my coop and get myself some chickens. I really want to find a farm to volunteer at since I really want to get involved with cows, too, but I have no idea where to even look. Just part-time volunteering that is flexible with my schedule... Anyone know of any places?

I have ducks that will be 1 in April. I've been getting them flock raiser pellet feed. Since they are laying eggs should I get them the layer pellets? I have two males and three females is it ok for males to have layer? (They are pets not meat ducks)

I'm in no way shape or form an expert, but I do feed all my ducks the equivalent to layer pellets or flock raiser, depending on what I have on hand. I've even fed layer pellets frequently to 8 week old chicks (oh the horror!) and haven't had any ill effects so far, except their first few eggs didn't come out soft, they were super hard.

My ducks eat layer pellets too, and since they free range it would be silly to try to feed them something different. They like to chase the chickens away and eat at their bowl for a while. I only got ducks last year, but can say I haven't had any problems with it if that helps

Just recieved a call from Louise at TSC in wilton and she says chicks will be in this week and swaps can start March 4th -- lol brrrrrrrrr I don't think I'll be there for that march set up -- But will be there every First sunday of the months after . Hope everyone is doing well ~~~ Tammy
