There used to be a go kart place on Riverside in Portland, but I have no idea if it is still there or not. What about Lazer Tag? They do that at Jokers in Portland. Or even just a movie? The theatre in Bridgton has a little cafe, and a friend of my daughter did a birthday there once and they gave her a room for cake/ice cream too. Or rollerskating? My kids love that too and they have the option of renting skates or rollerblades at the happy wheels in portland.

Wow Widget. I'm a bit of a fan of her. I've read several of her books and think that she is wonderful. I think I'll go!

For anyone who knows Dr. Temple Grandin's work with the livestock industry I thought I would let you know she will be speaking at Pineland in New Gloucester on May 13th. The topic is Animal Handling and Optimizing Your Setup.The event is free but you do have to reserve a spot.

If you aren't familiar with her she is an amazing person with Autism who was profiled in a wonderful HBO documentary. She also has written several books including 'Animals in Translation'. I read it last year and found it very interesting and though provoking. She has spent much of her life trying to improve the end of life care of beef cattle and other livestock. To think that she was able to change the minds of cattlemen especially back in the 70's is amazing. One of her beliefs is that most humans have lost the ability to see things and experience things from an animal point of view. As a result we design enclosures that suit our needs but not the needs of animals.

For anyone with ties to Autism or related disorders such as Asperger's she will also be giving a talk on "Autism and My Sensory Based World" at USM Portland in the afternoon of the 13th. Tickets are $35 and only 500 are available. This one is sponsored by Northeast Speech and Hearing.

I am planning on going to both. The first because I am interested in hearing her thoughts on animal handling and the second because I have Asperger's.

There's also Great Skates in Bangor. There is a rollar rink, games, and I believe laser tag. They also hold birthday parties.

I'm really worried about my eggs in our incubator

There doesn't seem to developing embryos and it's day 14. If anyone can help me or knows where I could get for fertilized eggs please help.

Most of us on here have fertile eggs. Depends on where you're located in the state and what kind of birds you want.

I also wanted to let y'all know I have a bunch of 6 week old pullets for sale. They are either olive or green/blue layers, or brown egg laying mutts. Healthy, disease and pest free and totally ready for a new home. I'm near Disgusta, but not able to make it to the swap this weekend. Let me know if you're interested.

I need some help from you mainers with kids. I have a son that is having a birthday. turning 11. he wants to take a few friends and go do something fun. bowling is out as is chucky cheese or that type of thing. this probably needs to be an indoor activity as we will be doing it with in the next 3 weeks.
so does anyone have any ideas, he wanted to do go carts but other then the one in scarbourgh, I don't know of any others. I can travel bangor/lewiston/portland but not much beyond that.

Okay, I don't have kids, but how about an indoor climbing wall or indoor paintball?

Especially in the winter.
I think you have to provide your own cake, etc, but they usually have basketball courts, swimming time all to themselves, and the YMCA staff sitters.
