dog is much better tonight, now my other one is lame, sympathy lameness?? well aspirin all around tonight I guess. ash, sorry about your chicken snatched. don't like those hawks at all around the coop.

paulajon, ivermectin can be mixed in the water to treat everyone (just recently read about that, not sure how effective it is since they basically dose themselves) sometimes the easiest way to treat them is to close up the coop at night then catch each one in the am, dose and put them outside. if they are not outside, they have not been treated. (it's really fun to catch birds in the pitch black especially if they are black too)

Glad to here your dog is better, hope the other one is ok. I can just imagine lol I probally wouldn't be able to find my black ones in the dark lol, my guineas are in there too they would be having a fit and my EE Roo would probally come after me if one of his hens started having a fit he is so protective. OMG I can see myself now lol ! I

I had 2 of my dogs go lame my Aussie and one of my Labs, I had to switch then to no corn wheat or soy and has been fine since, When I got my Aussie, the breeder had told me that one of her Aussie had a problem with lameness and they had figured out that it was caused from the corn, wheat ,or soy. My lab has an allergy to it and gets a rash also.

if your rooster is protective, start with him first, then he's the first one out of the coop. the guineas, those will be fun! I don't miss mine at all!

One of my poor EE's is molting. She looks soooo pathetic ! I feel so bad for her. She's almost 2, so she's due for one. Most of the flock has stopped laying, so they're probably going to start as well. This will be the first molt that I've seen.

Always loved it when they were learning to crow. Each one was different, and you're right, can sound anything like an owl to an injured cat to a coyote howling. So funny!

Still no eggs from my Comet. Her comb is bright bright red so she should start laying soon. I hope. Maybe once she gets going the other pullets will get the idea too. The ducks are done for the year. Maybe they know I want new homes for some of them. Then again if they were still laying they might get to stay.

Just took a pre-employment physical for my seasonal job. Really don't get why it has to be done every year since I am still technically on the payroll year round. But I passed and get paid to do it every year. My blood pressure and pulse were really low. Considering how high blood pressure runs in the family I like it on the low side. Had a bit of an issue with the eye exam. I see fine but due to astigmatism, really different eyes (20/60 in one 20/200) in the other and the dreaded 40 year reach some eye tests are more difficult than they should be. I can't wear glasses since my eyes are so different but contacts are fine. Oddly enough my bad eye corrects better than the good eye. So while I don't really have a vision issue I do rely on one eye more than the other. The strength test is another strange one. For the job (de-icing planes) we sit and use tow joysticks to maneuver. It really requires no real strength. So why I have to be able to lift 50 pounds over my head from both a kneeling and standing position is beyond me. The rest of the tests are fairly easy since I get a work out lifting grain, hay and shavings at home. I just don't lift them over my head.
