Make fun of my "trahmas" all you want, but....

We've tried talking her into crossing them with silkies and Polish to create "Saloon Girls". These would be the big buxom Brahmas with the low cut top of the Turken, the feathers (do you call those feathers?) from the Silkies, and the hat from the Polish. A problem might be the hairy legs, but you do what you can. Her resistance to this has proven surprisenly strong.

Sadly predators took care of the possibility of Polish Trahma/Saloon Girls. Keith was so horrified at the possibility that he said, "Miss Gritty, no more of those Polish."

I have one that is turken (that roo really got around) and EE. I call her an olive egger, because that's what color eggs she lays.

I haven't taken any new pics of the chickens in several months, but here's Sally the trahma taken a couple of months ago. Pictures don't do her justice, she's a beautiful large bird with a color that's unique, not a buff (like her mama brahma), but a butter color. Sally has a "sister" named Polly that lays the large round eggs.

A "Turkcauna" for the NN/Ameracauna mix.

And Gritty, SALOON GIRLS

I do miss my polish and now that I am adding a 3rd coop that will have a run, I am considering getting some polish again in the spring.

So you are suggesting we name the first one "Amanda"? Miss Gritty and her saloon girls!!! That was good.

I never put anything past Gritty. I know she has some partial Silkies and here she is talking about getting more Polish. There is hope yet for Saloon Girls.

My one silkie X, Dragon, is a cross beak and I have spent all week trying to get up the nerve to trim her upper beak. Both she and her brother Harley are very friendly.
