Make-sure before you copy!

    I've learnt on this forum if you choose to have something as your avatar, make sure it doesn't have copyright or if it is from someone who is a members' picture ask for permission first.

    That's a good reminder!

    In general it isn't good to copy images, text, etc. from other sources (magazines, books, the internets, etc.) without permission. So this definitely applies to way more than just avatars.

    In fact, we got a pretty nasty email from the owner of an article that was copied from her site and posted on our forum by a member that didn't get permission. We forwarded the email to the member and they learned quickly what a bad idea it is to use copyrighted material without permission.

    I made the copying mistake, too. I was doing a Hamburg breed page. I didn't know we weren't allowed to use photos from Feathersite! [​IMG]

    Oh well! I'm older and wiser now. [​IMG]
