I read about this and post #1 said it was so easy and it looked like it. Stopped at Lowe's for the pvc pipe. I got 4 inch because they're geese. I did not buy the 4 inch hole cutter drill because it was $20 plus the attachment $20. I got a little hack saw thing instead.

It took me 3 hours to put it together. Problem was I had to cut the hole. Then I had to modify the hole. Then I had a space around the hole. So I used about 1/3 of a tube of adhesive to keep the elbow in the hole. I hope no one sees it because it looks like I had an accident with the adhesive. It's the worst job I've ever done and it was so simple. My next one will be perfect.

My pros were that I angled the pipe so that it didn't come straight out of the hole but angled up to make it easier for the geese.

The other thing is that you can buy caps for those pipes, so all you have to do at night is put the cap on.

OMG!!! looking at that bucket you would never know that I retiled our inground hot tub just stunning.

I think what I might do (rat proof) is stand the feed bucket on a box made with 18 inch long 2 x 4's and a bottom, and staple hardware cloth on top. So any spilt feed would fall into the box and not be reachable by vermin. Geese are really messy!

I think thar feeder could work for fermented food...

I use crumbles in mine.

I had made 2 of these, but noticed they usually ate out of only one. Now while one is in use, I have the other one rinsed out and drying until I need to put new food back into the coop. This way I always have a clean feeder to use.

I have to see how the pellets go tomorrow. My geese made a mess anyway, so maybe I need to raise it up some. I'm determined to make this work!

I found that at first, on some of the ports they managed to pull some out....

I taped little collar / extension pieces to the ports that had issues...and it works great.

The reason I used duct tape is that the problem is that I couldn't get the height exactly like I wanted it, since I have bantams and standards in the same pen. So, I wanted a temporary fix that I could easily adjust.
