The link for the hole saw, when I click it the largest size was 2 and 1/2 not 3". So are you cutting a smaller hole for the 3 " elbow or did they just take the 3" hole saw out of that pkg?
Also I am having a problem with very small wild birds getting into my run and eating the feed will this prevent them from that?

This looks wonderful! Has anyone used a feeder like this with mash feed instead of pellets or crumbles? I use a slightly milled mash feed, and sometimes the fines are a bit of a problem in the galvanized feeder.

the crumbles I use have a decent amount of dust in them....and it works wonderfully.

My pellets are occ getting wet... of course they hate the pellets anyway... Hubby made a , well took a pine drawer standing up) and we put around the 5 gallon bucket... drawer. Whole thing covered in aluiminum and roofed.
but the 3 inch pipe sticks out some. So with a windy rain , rain water, is getting itnto the pipe. the one ende up getting Maggots..
so need to make a storm collar...... like in" chicks 4 life" youtube videos...

If this moddification I made to my hanging poultry feeder 2 months ago didn't work as well as it did (no waste at all anymore), I would gladly try the 5 gallon bucket idea. But chicken wire fixed my 8 flock waste problem. : )

I am having a problem with my feeder and geese. Do you thing raising it higher would help? My feeder is post # 354.

They still make a mess. I've just been sweeping it up every night. But was wondering if maybe I don't have it high enough?

Yep, I would experiment with making it higher.

The other choice is to add a collar to the tube, so that the tube is longer.

I couldn't raise mine, since I have standard and bantams, so where they were spilling, I added collars.
