Making a chicken run, no experience!

Right well the aim is to create a chicken run in under a week! it is quite a large space and I intend to dig it all up, slant the clayey earth so it drains away from the house, place a 1 inch layer of gravel to help with draining, replace some soil, then finally place another layer of wood chipping, any suggestions or tips will be greatly appreciated

Slope the clay soil away from the house for drainage, then apply 4 - 6 inches of sand to provide a dry surface for the chickens and a composting layer for the poop.
