I'll bet that made you feel good..Now she's eating something that's good for her and like most are saying it probably changed her life and make her appreciate home grown and farm produced food...
I let my neighbors two grandchildren have a chicken in with my two hens. They are at their grandmothers at least 5 days a week and spend hours hunting up bugs and pulling grass for the chickens. This morning they found 21 grasshoppers and they and their grandmother and I watched them feed the chickens and we all were laughing at the chickens. The girl is 14 and stated this morning that she did not think she would have enjoyed the chickens as much as she has. Ours have not started to lay yet but they can't wait.
There is something to be said for the "simple life". Kids today are so caught up in electronics and what not that they fail to see and enjoy the world around them. Satisfaction can be as simply attained as the warm cuddly you feel when a little chick sleeps in your hand or turns its little head looking at you inquisitively.
