Some of us have clay rather than nice soil. My chicks cannot bath with this garbage. I'm making them a sand bath and thinking of mixing peat moss with chik grit. (They love rolling in chik grit) but need a soil or sand as well. Would potting mix work? I have also read that adding surfer dust is great to keep mites away. Anyone with experience with this?

Lots of clay soil here as well and I had same concern so I built a small 2x6 frame and filled it with 3 bags of play sand and some ash. They had other ideas and made their own spot by digging in another section of the run. They do however like my sand to be soaked when it’s very hot to help them stay cool.
