Making/ Buying a Light on a Timer for the Chicken Coop in Winter!

I have bought string lights from QVC that are battery operated and on a timer, you set the timer at the time you want, it goes off 6 hours later.
I usually turn them on so they go off maybe two hours after dark. Just for some added light

How many hours of light does that give them per day?

I know we are about 11hrs now and were 12 about a month ago and chooks are still laying so guessing you would need to just take whatever the daylight hours were at the time and add enough timer light to give 12?

Well I have found that ( through research ) that chickens need best 15-16 hrs of light.

So at the moment I am getting about 11 hrs ( as you said ) of light per day so I will just put the light on at 3am to give me 15 hrs per day

.

It is only mid Autumn so each day brings less light.

will be curious to see what your solution is. We would also like to figure out lighting without electricity come fall.

go to harbor freight and pick up the solar panel package. It comes with the panels lights battery everything you need. All for about $139. The battery in this package can run two lights for about 80 hours without recharging.

Thanks, I checked the website and didn't' see that, but I will go by the store and see what I find.
