Making chicken scratch

I just bought a huge bag of wheat bran to use for raising mealworms and I was wondering if I can also use the bran for making scratch for my chickens that I don't have yet? ( thinking ahead)
I wouldn't simply because of the inverted Ca:P. It is going to cause problems pretty quickly as wheat bran is 1:10 (meaning it has one part Ca to 10 parts P) and laying hens need about 4:1 (4 times more Ca than P).

When you are just making scratch (not their main source of food) you can mix just about any grains together and they will like it. I have found ours particularly like some sunflower seeds, raisins, rice and peanuts.
Cooked rice or raw?
