I have been reading the posts on this forum daily for weeks but today I made it official and registered!
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I purchased 8 day-old chicks from a local feed store in July '08 for the purpose of having fresh eggs for my family. I had no idea I would become so attached to them!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 7 (lost one to a fox attack when they were 18 weeks). And I am ordering more (of course!). I plan to order 13 chicks this week.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have buff orpingtons. I plan to add EEs, Leghorns, Golden Comets (and I'm seriously considering some banties) in the spring.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google search!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I really enjoy gardening (another reason I got chickens, for the soil amendments), biking, reading and crocheting.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a wonderful DH, a DD (8), and a DS (6). I have three dogs ( a mutt, a rottweiler and a pug), one blue betta fish, one cat and a rabbit.
This site is wonderful! I've learned so much here already. I am so excited to be a member!
