Best bird of the season - in terms of appearance (photo doesn't do the pattern justice, my cell phone seems to lack a certain sharpness). Now just needs to frequently lay large eggs.

Were the "Oks" worth keeping at all?

Yes, the OKs are keeps - I'm only culling whites and mostly blacks currently. Yes, the mostly blacks may carry some of the genetics I want, but they are so darkly melanised I can't see it, and my program doesn't involve deliberate breeding, so I'd have no way of knowing,

Had to put one of our dogs to sleep Wednesday.
Just got back form the nursery, picking out a tree to plant on the grave.

I'm so sorry. Losing a dog is tough; their personalities leave a big hole when they pass. A tree is a lovely way to remember and honor them.

The thing about having a dog is you know there will be a sad ending to the relationship. And yet, the time you have with them, the love they give, makes you sign up willingly. Just to share time with such wonderful creatures.
