Is Clayrangers the planned name for your landrace breed?
It is or will be period and not much news, at least not much good news. One of the hatchlings decided to wedge itself behind the heat plate overnight didn't make it other they are doing fine.

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. I’m glad the rest are doing well. I have future plans for building my own landrace, so I’m watching your progress with interest.
 
I'm sorry about the lost chick. Things like that happen, but it's still sad.
I figure if it wasn't smart enough not to wedge itself behind the heat plate, it likely would not have been smart enough to survive on my free range pasture.
 
I understand why you got the chickens you did in the beginning. But when other choices became available, why didn't you "start" then? Or at least bring in a few foundation sires?
To either demonstrate that:

A) with enough time, stubbornness, and good advice from the people here on BYC that you could eventually turn sub-par into good for you.

- or -

B) that even with enough time, stubbornness, and good advice from the people here on BYC, sub-par will remain largely sub-par. So here's a lengthy record of what NOT to do if you should try it yourself.
