I am wondering has anyone made money selling eggs? I sell quite a few through word of mouth and am thinking of selling to cafes. Im wondering is it possable to use egg sells as a second income? I still have to get my license from the heath department. I was thinking of taking samples to the cafe owners to try and get them to buy from me. Any ideas thoughts?

I sold 115 dozen eggs from my farm stand in June.
$3.50 a dozen.

$3.50 x 115 = $402.50 I think that is a good second income.

Next year the price will go up to $4.00 a dozen.

Allot of egg growers sell at the downtown farm markets, $5.00 a dozen and they sell out fast. Most of those sellers use egg sales as a second income.

one dozen is visible for the customers to see, that dozen is not for sale, it usually is in one of those clear plastic egg cartons.
the sale eggs are kept in a cooler, with ice packs and a thermometer to insure correct temp (always take extra ice packs)
when a person wishes to buy, they remove a dozen from the cooler, open the carton for them to see and if they like what they see, the person buys it.
word of mouth through the farm market is usually the best advertisement and repeat customers

they are worth more if you give vitamins like avian super pak and they get to naturally forage , we give 3% flax seed based on 6 oz per bird per day .... but if its plain water and layer pellets , they are not as rich ,avia charge 2000 is nice too , keep all of this stuff inside humidity will ruin it we sell all of ours @5 a dz but they are a very rich egg not" just fresh "

Your right. My price should be higher. Next year.
I give mine vitamins, flaxseed and BOSS, they free range all day. They spend half of the day digging in the horse manure pile for worms the other half grazing on green grass.
Very good tasting eggs, not too strong and dark orange yolks.

One guy sells his free RUN eggs for $4.95 and can't keep up to the demand. Nothing spectacular about his eggs.

I charge different prices depending on the customer. My price ranges from 1 a dozen for my smallest eggs in a camping container my friend returns to 3 a dozen to customers who do not provide me with cartons. If people return the cartons or provide them I usually charge 2.50.

We pay for our chicken feed this way and considering we feed two teenage boys A LOT of eggs, that is like money in the bank.
