I use a 2 gal. bleach jug and it is big enough for a young turkey, a very large roo, and also holds my smallest hen comfortably. I would venture to say that any sturdy, large jug would work as well. They last a long time, they clean up great and they are strong.

And the best thing about them? They are FREE!

I made one out of a scrap of aluminum flashing. It isn't hard to manipulate. I used a gal. bleach jug for a model. Sketch it out with a pencil where you want to cut. Put a blade for metal cutting on a jig saw (get you some safety glasses and earplugs!). I then formed it into the cone shape and used a small nail to hammer pilot holes. Then I used small wood screws and screwed it together while simulatanously mounting it to a wooden frame that I use to hang it up with.
