The tensioner is usually pretty small.. You just pull it and it loosens the wheels to put the belt on... Now I'm speaking from car experience... Mowers might be different

One of them, I'm pretty sure, is an idler pulley. The tension is provided by a heavy spring...I've already disconnected it.

All I could find was to tie down the safety bail and engage the drive handle - but couldn't tell what model they were talking about.

That sounds like a regular walk-behind power mower, with something like a 22" cut. Definitely not what I have.
